Prague – This September, a new kindergarten for 100 children could open in Prague 18. The PRADAST company is currently building it on Škarvadova Street for 68.8 million crowns. The investor of the construction is the Letňany town hall. This follows from documents in the contract registry and information on the website of the municipal district.
"I firmly hope that the construction will be completed on time, and the kindergarten will open for the children of Letňany in September," stated the mayor of Prague 18, Zdeněk Kučera (ANO).
The two-story building, designed by architect Radek Janošík, will have four classes for preschoolers, cloakrooms, staff facilities, storage, technical rooms, and a food distribution area. The building will have three entrances, the main entrance will be from Škarvadova Street, and a green roof. A school garden, which will be irrigated with water from planned retention tanks, and a playground will be created on the surrounding land. The playground will also be available for public use.
Construction began in March by PRADAST. It is expected to be completed within five months from the start of construction, according to the contractual documentation between the company and the town hall. According to the contract, the company should build the kindergarten with the playground for 56.87 million crowns excluding VAT. The municipal district estimated the cost of construction work at 57.4 million crowns excluding VAT when it announced the tender at the end of 2021.
The new educational facility for preschoolers has been planned for the area for a long time. The zoning decision was issued by the authority in 2014 as a joint decision for the construction of the residential quarter U Lesoparku. This housing complex included the planned kindergarten, a children's playground, and tennis facilities. Currently, everything except the kindergarten is built.
The eighteenth municipal district currently oversees seven kindergartens, including detached units, and three elementary schools, according to information on the town hall's website.
Municipal District Prague 18 constitutes the cadastral area of Letňany, where approximately 20,000 residents live. The council of the eighteenth municipal district has 19 members. The ruling coalition in 2018 was formed by the parties and movements ANO, ODS + Svobodní, TOP 09, and the electoral grouping Krásné Letňany.
