Valašské Meziříčí – The Museum of the Valašsko Region is preparing the renovation of the outdoor area of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Valašské Meziříčí in the Vsetín region. This was announced today in a press release by the spokesman for the Valašské Meziříčí town hall, Jakub Mikuš. The costs are expected to reach ten million crowns.
"We are currently preparing a project for the revitalization of the entire outdoor area. Next year, thanks to funding from the Zlín Region, a green relaxation zone with benches will be created here. A barrier-free access will be provided along the newly built access road and a network of sidewalks, and the area will also be complemented by social facilities and lighting. The modifications will also include a complete revitalization of the existing greenery and new plantings of trees, shrubs, and flowers," said the museum director, Tomáš Vitásek.
The area will host an exhibition of sculptures. "In 2022, we would like to build an educational bee trail with appropriately placed beehives containing live bees in collaboration with the town of Valašské Meziříčí and the local beekeeping association," the director stated.
Last year, the museum, which is a contribution organization of the region, completed the reconstruction of the Church of the Holy Trinity. For 12 million crowns, the building received a new roof covering, drainage work was carried out, damaged beams were replaced, plaster was repaired, and the electrical installation was replaced. The monument-protected half-timbered church dates back to the second half of the 16th century.
Valašské Meziříčí supports the museum with an annual amount of 120,000 crowns; the museum in the town also operates the Kinský Castle next to the church, which is currently under renovation. "We exchanged land with the Zlín Region so that the entire church area would be owned by the region, which will greatly facilitate the planned revitalization," said Mayor Robert Stržínek (ANO), who discussed further operational possibilities with representatives from the region and the museum. "Currently, this significant monument is only open to the public during the summer holidays and during cultural events held here. Therefore, we will negotiate its greater accessibility in cooperation with the town and the museum," the mayor stated.
