Brno - The Municipal Court will start today to deal with the indictment against four people regarding suspicions related to the allocation of non-residential premises in Brno at Hlinky 46 and Hlinky 46a. The accused are charged by the prosecutor with bribery and fraud, facing up to several years in prison. The police charged them last summer.

The prosecutor accuses three people of bribery, with one of them being involved in the crime as an accomplice, according to the state prosecutor. The prosecutor has filed an indictment against one person for an act classified as a fraud crime.

The police began criminal prosecution in the fall of 2022 against at least two people for unauthorized disposal of non-residential premises. However, about a quarter of a year later, the prosecution against both was canceled following a complaint. Last summer, though, the police revived the prosecution for the same act against the same two individuals, and additionally charged two more people in the matter.

According to previous reports from the server Seznam Zprávy, the police criminally prosecuted two women in the fall of 2022 for allegedly controlling the premises in a historic building on Hlinky Street, which has more than a hundred square meters and where exclusive housing could be built, with the help of so-called straw men, that is, front persons. The premises for which the police are prosecuting the women were originally assigned by the City District Brno-Centrum to the brother-in-law of Brno's Mayor Markéta Vaňková (ODS) and his girlfriend, according to the server. Several years later, they reportedly asked the municipality to transfer the assigned loft spaces to another couple - Tomáš Janoška and his partner. The police believe, according to the server, that these were just front individuals and that someone else actually controlled the premises. Janoška is reportedly the brother of one of the accused women - Monika Janošková. The other prosecuted individual was reportedly her colleague Denisa Hlubocká.
