Mělník - Mělník wants to repair the pseudo-Gothic Villa Karola this year, which previously served as the city library. It will be utilized by the Elementary Art School. The city has already begun preparations for a tender for the reconstruction, estimated at around eight million Czech crowns, spokesperson for the Mělník town hall, Barbora Walterová, told ČTK today in response to an inquiry.
The exact costs of the reconstruction will be known after the evaluation of the tender. Afterwards, the councilors will decide whether to release the necessary funds from the budget reserve. The city is also still checking for grant opportunities. "If a suitable grant is announced, we will wait to see if we succeed," Walterová stated.
According to her, the building is in good condition; inside, it is necessary to renew electrical installations and the internet network, as well as demolish some partitions. In the spaces, an art studio and a smaller music hall should be created, for example. The Elementary Art School will start using them after the work is completed.
The city library has been relocated since December to modern spaces in the former House of Services on Charles IV Square.
