Luhačovice – Luhačovice in the Zlín region have begun reconstructing the Sokol Hall. In 2023, students of the Luhačovice Basic Art School (ZUŠ) will gain new spaces for education. The Sokol Hall was built in the 1930s and, through reconstruction, will regain its original functionalist style, stated the representative of the Luhačovice city hall in a press release.

"This is a major investment for next year, exceeding 40 million crowns," said the Mayor of Luhačovice, Marian Ležák (independent). The city received a grant from the Zlín region amounting to 21.3 million crowns for the reconstruction. After the completion of the work, the ZUŠ will move into the Sokol Hall and will have its headquarters there. "Currently, students of the art school are taught in temporary spaces, so we want to complete the entire reconstruction of the Sokol Hall by the end of next year. Thus, ZUŠ students will have an appropriate environment, and at the same time, there will be a possibility to use these spaces for traditional cultural events," noted the mayor.

The school is run by the region. "The region does not have its own building suitable for operating a basic art school in Luhačovice. Currently, the departments are scattered and often operate in improvised conditions. After the reconstruction is completed, all departments will be under one roof, and students will have a safer path from the primary school than they do now, where they have to cross a busy road. I perceive the approval of the grant as a significant step towards resolving this inadequate situation," said regional councilor Zuzana Fišerová (Pirates).
