Luhačovice (Zlín Region) - The company Lázně Luhačovice will build a therapeutic and accommodation complex. The total cost for the construction of three new buildings and the renovation of two historical ones is approximately 700 million crowns. The complex will offer accommodation, relaxation, and therapeutic services. This was reported to journalists today by representatives of the project company Helika and Lázně Luhačovice. The foundation of the entire complex consists of the spa hotel Morava and the hotel Alexandria. New buildings will be added for balneological operations, a relaxation center, and additional accommodation capacity. Construction work is set to begin in the spring of next year, with completion planned for the middle of 2009. Lázně Luhačovice will employ its own resources and loans for the construction, but will also attempt to obtain funds from the European Union. "This is a project that will not only contribute to the expansion of spa treatment options, but also to the development of health tourism. This will be reflected in job creation and increased attractiveness of the entire area," said the company’s director Josef Krůžela. According to project manager Radan Jurášek from the company Helika, all buildings in the complex will be connected by underground passageways. Another interesting feature is the design of the relaxation center at the hotel Alexandria, which was inspired by the era of Alexander the Great. Last year, Lázně Luhačovice welcomed a record number of clients, with over 29,000 people visiting the largest spa in Moravia. However, due to a lower proportion of clients whose stays are funded by insurance companies, visitors spent fewer days here than in 2004. The company generated 376 million crowns, which is roughly the same as in 2004, thanks to people who pay for their stays themselves. The spa houses and hotels of the company Lázně Luhačovice have a capacity of 1,350 beds, and they purchase an additional approximately 200 beds from private accommodation providers during the season. The spa specializes in the treatment of respiratory diseases, but their services are also widely used by people with musculoskeletal disorders. The company employs an average of 580 employees.
