On April 2, 2015, starting at 5:00 PM, the launch of the professional publication Cultural Heritage of the Vítkovice Ironworks by authors Miloš Matěj, Irena Korbelářová, and Ludvík Tejzr will take place in the small hall of the Multifunctional Auditorium Gong in the Lower Vítkovice area. The publisher of the title is the National Heritage Institute, regional expert workplace in Ostrava.
The book will be christened by: Ing. Jan Světlík, General Director and Chairman of the Board of Vítkovice a.s. Mgr. Jiří Vajčner, Ph.D., Director of the Department of Heritage Care of the Ministry of Culture Mgr. Karel Ksandr, Director of the National Technical Museum in Prague Ing. arch. Naděžda Goryczková, General Director of the National Heritage Institute
The book follows the previously published works Cultural Monuments of the Ostrava-Karviná Region and Cultural Heritage of the Northern Railway of Emperor Ferdinand, which aim to explain the complexity and interconnection of the entire Ostrava-Karviná industrial agglomeration in an accessible manner. “Heritage protection of the cultural heritage of the Vítkovice Ironworks is the result of the gradual formation of opinions and developments that the publication aims to explain in mutual contexts. Technical equipment primarily represents the technological flow: coal mining – coking – production of crude iron – refining of crude iron (steelmaking) – shaping (forge, rolling mill, tube rolling mill). The residential and social background for employees, without which stable production would not be possible, is represented by the industrial town of Nové Vítkovice in Vítkovice and the Jubilee Colony in Hrabůvka,” says one of the authors, Miloš Matěj.
