Kladno – Kladno is preparing a study for the construction of a new sports hall and indoor swimming pool. In about three years, construction could begin on the property that the city recently purchased. The new sports facility will connect to the existing city sports complex. The hall is expected to meet competitive standards, and the pool will be 25 meters long, said Kladno Mayor Milan Volf to ČTK.
The city intends to apply for a grant from the National Sports Agency for the construction of the hall and swimming pool, which also provides municipalities with basic project templates for supported sports facilities; Kladno plans to use one to save on design work.
According to the mayor, a condition requiring a completed project up to the building permit stage can be considerably costly for smaller towns and municipalities. "But if it were just to the zoning decision stage, you would save a lot of money," Volf described, noting that under the current conditions, municipalities must invest significant amounts into preparation without certainty of obtaining the grant.
The football field, on which the new sports facilities are to be built, was purchased by Kladno this spring from the Benedictine Archabbey of St. Adalbert and St. Margaret in Prague - Břevnov for over 13 million crowns. The footballers who used the field now have access to another field in the Kladno area of Rozdělov.
