Karlovy Vary - Karlovy Vary selected the contractor for the renovation of the roof and part of the façade of the theater for the third time. The work on replacing the slate roof on the historic building will cost 24.5 million crowns excluding VAT, Deputy Mayor Jiří Klsák (KOA) told reporters today. The work will take place from spring to autumn. It should be completed in September next year.

"The winner of the contract is the company Baustav, which offered the lowest price. The other two companies that applied had offers approximately one million higher," Klsák stated. The reconstruction will take place during the regular operation of the theater, including during the film festival, although it is likely that the construction company will accommodate the theater during cultural events.

The city has put out the contract for the theater repairs for the third time. In the previous two cases, they were unable to meet the price limit included in the tender. In the first selection process, the offered price significantly exceeded the budget from the project. Therefore, the city modified the conditions of the contract. The quality of the slate for the roof is essential and must meet demanding requirements.

The Municipal Theater in Karlovy Vary is a pseudo-Rococo building from 1886 designed by the Vienna architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer.
