ZZS building in Brno–Černovice: under construction |
The new building will have two floors. "The first will have garages for ambulances and other equipment, a cleaning room, storage areas, and other service spaces. The second will house the offices of healthcare workers, the management of the territorial department and interns, a technician's room, a server room, and a training hall," said Milan Klusák, the director of the South Moravian emergency service. He added that the server room and training hall are designed to serve as a backup operations center if necessary. There will be an air conditioning machine room on the roof.
The construction could start as early as this year, with completion expected in the summer of next year. "The new building will create conditions for healthcare workers that match the current needs for providing pre-hospital emergency care as well as health regulations. Currently, there are four doctors and others as external collaborators, 20 paramedics, and 17 paramedic drivers working in Znojmo," added Klusák.
In recent years, two new dispatch stations costing tens of millions were created in Brno in the city districts of Černovice and Bohunice, where the regional operations center is located. Work is now in the final phase on a third station in Ponav. Once the facility in Ponav is completed, paramedics will be able to definitively leave the premises on October 28 Square in the city center, from which they often depart into full operations, as the building no longer meets requirements.
There are about 150 paramedics in Brno, and nearly 550 in the entire South Moravian Region. There are over 20 dispatch bases, including an air base in Brno.
