Are you interested in where foreigners live in Prague or how many kilometers of bike paths have been built in recent years? Do you want to know how many people live in housing estates or how residents of Prague most often commute? You can find answers to these questions in the third update of the Territorial Analytical Materials of the Capital City of Prague, created by IPR, which was approved by Prague representatives last week.

"The Territorial Analytical Materials are the outcome of ongoing monitoring of the city. They are a snapshot of the state of Prague at a given moment.", states Eliška Bradová from IPR. The document, which is updated every two years, identifies the values, problems, limits, and intentions of Prague and offers the city recommendations on what it should address, particularly through urban planning.

Prague Under Scrutiny

The Territorial Analytical Materials are based on the most detailed data available for Prague. They consist of maps, graphs, and accompanying texts, discussing the state and development of various thematic areas of the city - from the environment, the use and functioning of the city, to transportation and technical infrastructure.

The document also deals extensively with the economic infrastructure, ranging from basic civic amenities to trade, services, job opportunities, and recreation. Last but not least, the Territorial Analytical Materials analyze compliance with the principles of sustainable development.

The current update, approved by the Council of the Capital City of Prague on March 26, was created in the context of deeper public discussions regarding the new direction of the city. A new feature is greater interconnection between the Territorial Analytical Materials, the developing Metropolitan and Strategic Plan, the concept of public spaces, and other development documents.
