Hradec Králové - The Královéhradecká city hall will submit a proposal to the Ministry of Culture to declare the villa of architect Oldřich Liska on Střelecká Street, the remaining part of the campus of schools in Lipkách, and the tower water reservoir in Nový Hradec Králové as cultural monuments. This was stated today by the head of the heritage conservation department of the Hradec Králové city hall, Jan Falta, who believes that the proposal submitted should be successful.
The city would like to include the second half of the campus of schools in Lipkách among cultural monuments, where the older part of the buildings, completed in 1928 according to the design of Josef Gočár, is already a monument. "The second half from 1959, designed by architect Václav Rohlíček based on the concept of architect Josef Gočár, is not yet a cultural monument," said Falta.
Another monument should be the villa on Střelecká Street, completed in 1932. On the ground floor, Liska designed his own design office and drawing room, as well as an archive, while he had an apartment located on the upper floor. Later, the building housed a kindergarten, and now the object is used by the trade office. "The building is preserved in very excellent condition, there are unique steel windows and an interesting fireplace," Falta said.
The third proposed monument is the nearly 40-meter tall water reservoir, which was completed in 1937 according to the design of Bohuslav Drahoš from Vysoké Mýto. "It is a building that is very interesting from both a construction and architectural perspective," said Falta.
The city hall also received additional proposals for the declaration of some other objects as monuments, which included, for example, the gas station on Koutníkova Street or the Don department store from 1974 in the city center. "The council will pass these proposals to the expert organization of the state heritage care, so they can be dealt with accordingly," said Falta.
