Náchod - The completion of the partially constructed project of the Small Spa with colonnade in the Běloves district of Náchod should be secured by the company Průmstav Náchod for 14.95 million crowns. It won the competition among three construction companies, offering the lowest price. Nina Adlof, spokesperson for the Náchod city hall, said this to ČTK today. Construction work could start at the beginning of April.
"If there are no complications, we could sign the contract with the company in the first week of April. The completion could then begin immediately," Adlof told ČTK. According to her, it should be completed within six months of the construction company's takeover of the site, which means by the beginning of October.
This is nearly a year’s delay from the original schedule. The thirteen million crown European subsidy that the city received for the construction is not threatened by the delay.
The construction of the spa was started in the autumn two years ago by the company Green Project. They brought the construction to just under halfway, but were unable to complete it. The company handed over the site in the form of a rough construction back to the city at the end of last year. The city imposed a contractual penalty of over one million crowns against Green Project. According to the city hall spokesperson, the company has not yet paid it.
The construction of the Small Spa is the first step towards the revival of spa services in Náchod after more than 20 years. The project, valued at around 20 million crowns, involves the restoration and utilization of the historic area of the Small Spa. The city hall discovered a new source of mineral water for the spa in the Běla and Jan drillings on municipal land. The centerpiece of the restored area of the Small Spa will be a replica of the interwar villa Komenský, which will feature an exhibition on the history of spa services and a café. A colonnade with a spring of mineral water from the new drillings is also planned to be built next to it.
The Small Spa is located approximately half a kilometer in a straight line from the main spa area in Bělovsi, which is privately owned and has been closed and deteriorating since 1996. This area is also expected to have a better future. Two years ago, the new owner of the area became the Prague company IDA SpaMed, which subsequently declared interest in restoring the spa.
