Prague - The absolute winner of the House of the Year 2019 survey is a family house in the Plzeň region designed by architect Jiří Zábraha. The winning house is two stories tall with a built-up area of 148 square meters. It received the absolutely highest number of votes. This was stated today at a press conference by representatives of the magazine Můj dům, which announces the survey.
"The architectural solution of the winning building connects to the gardening past of the plot and the concept of a row house project. The elongated rectangular building has a fully glazed ground floor, topped with a simple mass clad in wood. The longitudinally sloping shed roof creates the shape of a wedge, and the wooden floor evokes the impression of a ship sailing in the garden. Over time, it will naturally age, acquire a patina, and gradually blend into the surrounding mature trees," said the organizers.
The second place in the readers' voting went to the type house Kristýna 27 from the Karlovy Vary region. The third place was taken by a family house in the district of Prague-East designed by architects Aleš Jeřábek and Vítězslav Táborský.
The winner of the competition is determined by readers voting on the magazine's website or by sending a text message. In addition to readers, a professional jury selected the winners in all categories. Only houses published in the magazine in 2018 could be nominated. Last year, the absolute winner was the "Villa above the waterfall" on the outskirts of Prague by architect Michal Sluka.
