Prague - From today until October 7, people can come and see well-known buildings and architecture usually hidden from view. The jubilee tenth edition of the Architecture Day festival offers nearly 300 architectural walks, bike rides, guided tours, as well as discussions and lectures. Interested parties can admire architecture in more than a hundred towns and municipalities across the country and in Slovakia.
Visitors can explore former factories, modern ecological buildings, sacred architecture, forgotten Jewish monuments, hospital complexes, former working-class neighborhoods, shopping centers, as well as routes through urban wilderness.
In special sections, the festival will commemorate significant personalities such as Adolf Loos, Josef Gočár, Otakar Novotný, or Jaroslav Fragner, as well as Zdeněk Fránek, who is the recent recipient of the Architect of the Year 2020 award. "The program of the Architecture Day festival has been based on walks for a limited group of people since 2001, and events take place mostly outdoors, which is why we believe this year's edition will take place as planned," stated the director and founder of the Architecture Day festival, Marcela Steinbachová.
The festival program is free of charge; however, prior reservation is required for selected events. The program is available on the website www.denarchitektury.cz.
