The City Hall has announced a new selection procedure for the city architect Děčín is still searching for its architect. In the first selection procedure announced by the city at the beginning of summer 2016, no suitable candidate was chosen. Now, the conditions of the tender documentation have been modified. The city leadership has long been striving to establish the position of an architect. According to the tender documentation, the architect should conduct consulting and advisory activities in the fields of architecture, urbanism, spatial planning, the environment, and heritage conservation in both independent and delegated capacities. The geographical scope of their activities coincides with the territory of the statutory city of Děčín. “We are looking for a quality expert who will ensure the conceptuality and quality of the city's development activities. They will be a strong partner not only for the city leadership but also in communication with the citizens,” said Marie Blažková, the mayor of the city. The city hall sees its importance mainly in the renewal of public spaces, greenery, care for historical heritage, the creation of a strategic plan, and similar areas. A commission composed of experts will assist in selecting a suitable architect, just as in the first selection procedure. That procedure was canceled due to a lack of candidates. “In the new selection procedure, we have made several changes. We now offer better financial compensation and a clearer connection between the architect and the city hall leadership,” said Valdemar Grešík, deputy mayor. The evaluation of the proposals by the commission will take place in two rounds. A complete proposal, including a written work, is a condition for proceeding to the second round. The second round will consist of an interview with the evaluation committee. Interested parties can submit proposals for the position of architect until March 28, 2017, at 14:00.
