The rector's awards of CTU for outstanding research results are awarded annually, both in the fields of basic or applied research and in the field of development with subsequent transfer to practice. The awards are given in four categories and three levels. For the first time, research in the field of urbanism and architecture was recognized in this category.

In the category "Rector's Award for the Application of Research Results in Practice," the award of the III. degree was received by Assoc. Prof. Petr Hájek for the research project in the field of urbanism and architecture "ANASTOMOSIS."

The general public was able to learn about the project titled "ANASTOMOSIS-connected city" at a collective exhibition at the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art at the beginning of this year. A new method of city development planning based on the original interconnection of its parts was presented through 65 designs. Over 10,000 visitors viewed the exhibition in two months. A publication on this topic with the same title will be released in February of next year, where the research results and its method will be comprehensively presented.
The award will be presented on November 27, 2012, at the Bethlehem Chapel in Prague's Old Town.
