Brno - A music pavilion, a mobile staircase, and a fountain will be added to the Koliště park in Brno near the functionalist House of Art. The investment plan for the revitalization of the space, which will exceed 130 million crowns, was approved by the council on Wednesday. In January, they will address its financing, said Radka Loukotová from the Brno city hall on the city website.
"The successful reconstruction of the park at Moravské náměstí showed that the people of Brno enjoy new green public spaces complemented by basic services and that they seek them out. Another such place could arise around the House of Art in the ring around the historical center. Its new form emerged earlier this year from an architectural-landscape competition and was designed by the M2AU studio," said Mayor Markéta Vaňková (ODS).
The park at Moravské náměstí underwent extensive modifications costing 132.5 million crowns last year. The work included the construction of technology for rainwater collection, revitalization of green areas, new planting, a fountain, play elements for children, and the construction of a café.
For the revitalization of Koliště park, the city will begin searching for a designer after the New Year, who will prepare a study based on the ideas from the competition. "We will continue with the project documentation, which will specify, among other things, the requirements for financing and the duration of construction. At this moment, we anticipate that the investment will exceed 130 million crowns. The actual work will start no earlier than three years from now," added Deputy Mayor for Investments René Černý (ANO).
Terrain modifications around the House of Art will connect the building to the park and allow for barrier-free access. A shallow fountain with misting nozzles will be created, which will also function as a solid surface for organizing cultural events. A new music pavilion in the central part of the park will also serve these events. All trees will be treated by experts. New trees will appear in the location of today's garden of the Zeman café or near the street Za Divadlem.
