Brno – Brno will build a new kindergarten with seven classes for 170 children in the West Gate area of Starý Lískovec. The costs are approximately 120 million, said city councilor Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL) to ČTK. According to him, about half of the costs will be covered by a private investor who will build apartments in the area. The population is expected to increase by up to 4,000, primarily consisting of young families.
The kindergarten will be located on U Penzionu Street. "The company Ing. Michal Palaščak will first create a study necessary for issuing further decisions, permits, or consents and opinions. Then, it will carry out surveys and assessments needed for preparing the documentation for zoning and building approval and will also provide project documentation and author supervision. The city will pay 2.68 million crowns for these services," Hladík stated.
The total minimum area considered for the kindergarten complex is 4,500 m². The building will have a green roof. Facilities will include the school's management, staff, a kitchen, and a dining room. "A fenced garden of 1,700 m² will be adjacent to the building. There will also be a parking lot for 45 cars. Preparation will take two years. Construction could begin in the middle of 2023," added councilor for education Jaroslav Suchý (KDU-ČSL).
Brno operates 140 kindergartens attended by about 11,500 children and around 70 elementary schools attended by over 32,000 students.
