Blansko will modify the space in front of the library at the suggestion of the residents

Blansko - Blansko has started making adjustments to the area in front of the library these days, as part of the winning project from last year's participatory budget. A resting area will be created in front of the library. This year, Blansko also implemented two other proposals from residents that reached the finals last year. These include a so-called barefoot path along the Svitava riverbank and a slackline for walking on a tight strap at the Sports Island. The city informed about this on its website.

In this year's fifth round of the participatory budget, votes are being cast for 18 possible investments.

The author of the winning project from last year's participatory budget is the director of the municipal library, Lukáš Dlapa. His original proposal included only the construction of benches for sitting in front of the library and the Blanka information office. However, the city management decided to combine the realization of the winning project with the adjustment of the entire area’s surface. In addition to creating a uniform surface, this will also solve the problems with puddles that form in front of the building's entrance after rain.

"The adjustments include the removal of the original surface, the replacement of underlying layers, the installation of prefabricated pedestals for seating, and the laying of new paving stones throughout the area," described the managing director of the construction company, Petr Markus.

Construction work will restrict passage through the repaired area from Rožmitálova Street towards A. Skotáka Street, and it is expected that the work will take about a month. The construction site will be fenced, and pedestrian access will be possible via a designated corridor. The operation of the information center and the library will not be significantly limited by the adjustments.

People will decide which project from the participatory budget the city will implement next year by November 21. Voting can be done online or through printed ballots available at the municipal office's reception and at the Blanka information office. They can also be downloaded from the city’s website.

People over 18 years old with permanent residence in Blansko can vote. This year, interested parties can choose from 18 projects, and the winner will be announced on December 5.
