ICE, during its first participation at Designblok, will present an unconventional form of its unique 3D printed fortification. As part of the Designblok program, there will be a lecture titled “Between conflicts” on October 6, 2022, at 12:30 PM by architect Jiří Vítek, in the premises of the Gabriel Loci monastery (Holečkova 10, Smíchov, Prague), at the Reflex Stage.
Specifically for the design exhibition, ICE has modified the checkpoint so that the interior of the structure is printed with patterns generated using AI, inspired by Ukrainian children in a secessionist forest. The forest is the theme of this year's Designblok. The exterior of the checkpoint retains its military appearance. With this difference, ICE wants to highlight the conflict in which Europe finds itself: while we can hide inside in a comfortable environment and debate about war, a real war is occurring beyond our borders. This idea gave birth to the title of the presentation – “Between Conflicts”. The pavilion is contextualized to the location of the garden of the Museum of Decorative Arts. Through views, it integrates elements of the garden and the noble facade of the Rudolfinum. The wall oriented towards the fountain is stirred up, and its form manifests the possibilities of 3D printing.
Designblok is the oldest, largest, and most important showcase of design and fashion in the Czech Republic. It includes workshops, seminars, fashion shows, and panel discussions. The ICE exhibition will be accessible from October 5 to 9, 2022, at the premises of the Prague Museum of Decorative Arts.
