Benešov - Benešov is preparing an extensive reconstruction of the Pošta hotel for hundreds of millions of crowns. This year, it wants to prepare project documentation. When the repairs will begin is still unclear. The city leadership plans more investments and needs to agree on projects that will have priority within the coalition, said Vice Mayor Roman Tichovský (ODS) to ČTK.

"There are about 12 projects that we need to address. They will be presented to the councilors, and I expect that we will agree on their order," Tichovský stated. In addition to the Pošta hotel, the city also wants to focus on the main building of the former Táborské barracks, which could potentially become an elementary school in the future.

The Pošta hotel needs new installations or technical equipment for the building, the back part is to be demolished and rebuilt. Tichovský pointed out that it will be a large investment project. According to the latest estimates, the complete reconstruction could cost up to half a billion crowns.

"That is quite a lot of money. The documentation will also be complex." the vice mayor warned. The town hall wants to maintain the city theater with facilities in the hotel and build spaces for an art school. However, according to Tichovský, the project will likely not be able to be divided into phases.

Benešov has prepared 300 million crowns for investments this year. It mainly plans to reconstruct the Na Karlově Elementary School. Thanks to the loft conversion, students will gain new classrooms. The project will also include barrier-free modifications and the installation of an elevator. The costs are 37 million crowns, most of which should be covered by a grant.
