The Faculty of Art and Architecture TUL is hosting a guest lecture and expert colloquium that revisits the work of Adolf Loos, particularly regarding the creation and perception of space in architecture, on the occasion of the publication of the book Raumplan and Contemporary Architecture. The introductory lecture will be given by one of the co-authors of the book, leading global expert on the work of Adolf Loos, Professor Christopher Long from the University of Texas at Austin. Maria Szadkowská will discuss the most famous example of Loos's use of spatial planning in the Müller villa. Further contributions presented by Dan Merta, Martina Mertová, and Filip Šenk will expand on reflections about the relationships between contemporary architecture and the modernist legacy of architectural space thinking. Artist Jiří Příhoda will discuss his own work in the final presentation, which can be characterized as an exploratory investigation of the living and soft boundary between art and architecture.
