London - A skyscraper 305 meters tall named The Tulip is set to become the tallest building in London's financial district, the City, if the project is approved. However, The Shard will remain the highest in the metropolis and the UK by just under four meters.
The building will not have any office spaces; it is designed to serve as a tourist and educational attraction as well as a cultural and social center. Children from state schools will be offered up to 20,000 free visits each year.
If the project is approved, construction could start in 2020. The skyscraper is expected to be completed within five years.
