Dubai - Today, clients will enter the doors of the new luxury hotel The Opus in Dubai. It is part of the Meliá Hotels International chain and was built according to the design of architect Zaha Hadid. This British architect of Iraqi origin passed away four years ago, and her studio also designed the revitalization around Prague's Masaryk Station.

The queen of curves, as Hadid is referred to in the field, designed the Dubai hotel as two towers 70 meters high, connected by a four-story atrium at the ground level and an asymmetrical three-story bridge at the top. It contains over 90 hotel rooms and 60 apartments. From the frontal view, the building appears as a cube with a hollow interior, offering views to people in the inner, central spaces of the building.

Many buildings designed by Hadid are characterized by graceful, curved shapes. These include, for example, the London Olympic Aquatic Centre or the Heydar Aliyev Center in Azerbaijan, reported CNN.

Mahdi Amjad, who heads the Omniyat company that built the hotel in Dubai, said that the Opus's shape corresponds to the quality of Hadid's studio. It is an expression of "sculptural sensitivity and balance between mass and open space, between transparency and darkness, interior and exterior," said Amjad. Hadid also oversaw the interior design proposals. "You always expect that the designs from Hadid's studio will surprise you, but the Opus exceeds all expectations," said Gabriel Escarrer, the executive director of Meliá Hotels.

The Opus in Dubai competes with numerous well-known structures, such as the Burj Al Arab, one of the tallest buildings in the world built on an artificial island. Additionally, it is located near another iconic structure, the Burj Khalifa, the tallest in the world. It is also the only completed project based on Hadid's design in Dubai. Her other two designs, including the Dubai Opera, were not realized.
