Building of the Embassy of the Czech Republic designed by architects Věra and Vladimír Machonin is one of the Berlin icons of brutalism. The study dates back to 1972 and was completed in 1978. The building earned the nickname "Raumschiff Enterprise," which refers to its futuristic shape and location in no man's land near the Berlin Wall. The exterior of the building contrasts with the colorful interior, which is complemented by unique artifacts made of glass, textiles, and custom-designed furniture. The exhibition is held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the design of the embassy building, from the first sketch in 1972 to the present. It features unique semi-staged photographs of the building by renowned architectural photographers Simon Schnepp and Morgane Renou. It will be supplemented by an archive of historical plans from the National Gallery in Prague, photographs, and a model of the building from the Berlinische Galerie, as well as original pieces of furniture from the Czech Embassy building. The exhibition and accompanying program are organized by the Czech Centre in Berlin in collaboration with the National Gallery in Prague and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
