In February of this year, Viktor Melnikov passed away at the age of 92. He lived for three decades in the house designed by his father - the famous avant-garde architect Konstantin Melnikov. Almost immediately, a dispute arose over who would own the house. In Viktor Melnikov's last will, he stated that he would donate the house to the Russian state, which would restore it and establish a museum for his father inside. At the same time, a dispute erupted between the surviving daughters. The youngest, Elena, still claims ownership, while the oldest, Ekaterina, fears that the state will not be able to take care of the house and it will fall into the wrong hands. Ultimately, her fears were realized. Half of the house was purchased by Russian politician (the youngest member of the Duma) and entrepreneur (founder of the Rosbuilding company) Sergey Gordeev. According to architecture critic Grigory Revzin, the first step towards the ruin of the house has been taken.
