Sydney - Can't relax at the beach, in a pub, or at the gym? Stressed residents of Sydney, Australia will have the opportunity to unwind at pianos in the new year. The musical instruments will be placed throughout the city for passersby to play, wrote Reuters. As part of the January festival in Sydney, over 30 pianos will be set up in public places. Residents of Australia's largest city will encounter them on a busy ferry in the famous city harbor, at the train station, or even in a tattoo parlor. The pianos are intended to inspire people to relax and interact with each other. The brainchild of the installation called Play Me, I’m Yours is British artist Luke Jerram, who has successfully carried out similar projects in Birmingham, UK, and São Paulo, Brazil. "It’s one way to enliven public space and allow people to stop, talk to each other, and take advantage of the unusual opportunity to sit down and play," said project leader Michelle Kotevski. "I’m not aware of any similar project that has had a piano on a ferry before. I think this is the first time," Kotevski added. Each piano will have a "friend" who will take care of it and encourage people to play. The festival will take place in Sydney from January 10 to 31, and Kotevski expects the pianos to become a hit.
