Delhi - The American company Turner Project Management, which oversaw the construction of the tallest building in the world, Dubai's skyscraper Burj Khalifa, now wants to build the tallest statue in the world. According to Al-Arabiya television, the company signed a contract on Tuesday worth 450 million dollars (almost nine billion crowns) for the construction of the Statue of Unity. It will be located on the Narmada River in western India. The statue is set to depict Indian politician Sardar Patel, who is regarded as one of the founders of modern India. The height of the sculpture is expected to reach 182 meters, which is four times that of the Statue of Liberty in New York. The tallest statue in the world currently is the copper Buddha in China's Henan province. The new statue is expected to exceed it by 54 meters. It could be completed in over four years. The Indian newspaper The Times of India reported that in addition to Turner, the contract with the local government in India was also signed by the architectural firm Michael Graves and Associates from the USA and the German company Mindheart.
