In the period from September 26 to October 9, the 10th edition of the international festival Architecture Week Prague will take place - a selection of the most important projects of contemporary modern architecture, urban planning, landscape creation, urban regeneration, and development - in which the Romanian Cultural Institute in Prague has regularly participated since its inception in 2009, and this year will support the project "Landscaping of the bathing area at Tineretului Lake (Youth Lake) - Bathing space on Tineretului Lake" - a model designed by architect Szabolcs Korodi and his collaborators, accompanied by a multimedia projection. The greatest challenge of this project was to find a suitable architectural solution for intervention in an almost untouched landscape.
The theme of this year's edition is the Organic City. Invitations were sent to over 30 countries through embassies and cultural institutes. Romania is thus represented by a team of designers and architects who transform the traditional view of architecture. The project fits into this year's festival theme and offers a vision of the city, both contemporary and future, promoting a positive transformation of public space. Szabolcs Korodi is the director of the architectural and urban planning studio Vallum Ltd, graduated from the Technical University of Cluj (Romania) and completed a scholarship in Leuven, Belgium; his education also includes a DLA program at the Technical University of Budapest (Hungary) and postdoctoral studies in the restoration of historical buildings at Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj (Romania). The festival program consists of: an international exhibition of models (Mánes building, Masarykovo nábř., 110 00 Prague 1), film screenings, photography exhibitions, graphic works, lectures, professional conferences, and guided tours to explore the architecture of the capital and other cities in the Czech Republic. Mr. Korodi will participate on October 6 in the international conference on architecture and at the opening ceremony of the festival, and the next day will engage in a series of lectures on architecture conducted by representatives of the participating countries. Participation in Architecture Week Prague will also offer the Romanian team the opportunity to establish new contacts with professionals in the field and collectively contribute to shaping the best possible living environment.
