The normally inaccessible interior at Klatovská 19 will reopen to visitors on Saturday, September 9. On the occasion of the European Day of Cultural Heritage, interested parties will be able to participate in guided tours of the house of Hugo Semler.
Fans of the unique design and architectural work of Adolf Loos will thus have the opportunity to join guided tours of the interiors on the first floor of the house after a long time, the story of which is closely tied to World War II. The original owners of the apartment - the family of entrepreneur Hugo Semler - were forced to flee from Bohemia before the Nazis; during the Second World War, the German Wehrmacht headquarters was also located here. The space was used as the office by the military commander of the city of Plzeň, Georg von Majewski, who also shot himself here in May 1945, shortly after signing the capitulation. After the end of the war until 2002, the army used the house, including the interior designed by Adolf Loos. During the 30-minute guided tour, visitors will not only learn about this story, but will also discover a variety of interesting facts about the original interior design by architect Adolf Loos.
Tickets at a price of 50 crowns can be purchased through the website www.adofloosplzen.cz or at the Tourist Information Center at Republic Square. Tours will take place at 10:45, 11:30, 12:15, 14:00, 14:45, and 15:30. Since the interior has not yet been renovated, for safety reasons, tours are not accessible to children under 12 years old.
