The Museum of the City of Prague – The Center for Modern Architecture Monuments opens on November 5, 2021, in the gallery of the Study and Documentation Center Norbertov a long-term exhibition titled Architect Adolf Loos – Models and Photographs. The exhibition of a unique collection of models and photographs of the works of architect Adolf Loos will be an important part of the tour circuit that includes Müller Villa, Rothmayer Villa, and the Study and Documentation Center Norbertov. The collection of architectural models and photographs of Adolf Loos's works was part of the retrospective exhibition ADOLF LOOS WORLD CITIZEN organized by the Museum of the City of Prague in cooperation with the National Technical Museum in Prague on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of architect Adolf Loos. We have decided to continue to make the unique collection of architectural models and photographs of built buildings as well as unrealized projects in Bohemia and Moravia accessible to our visitors in the gallery space of the Study and Documentation Center Norbertov, near the most significant realization of this important architect – Müller Villa. Thus, the exhibition will become a distinct part of the tour of the villa, during which it will be possible to become familiar with broader information about Loos's architectural work in the Czech lands. The selection of presented photographs is also a cross-section of the long-term survey of Adolf Loos's work in the Czech lands, which the Museum of the City of Prague began in 2003. Thanks to the research and activities of the Study and Documentation Center of Adolf Loos, it has been possible to once again bring Loos's work into public awareness, which subsequently led to the successful restoration of several Plzeň Loos interiors. In the past year, it has also been possible to save one of the first Loos buildings in Moravia, the villa of Viktor Bauer in Hrušovany near Brno. With this initiative, the long-term exhibition of models and photographs of the works of architect Adolf Loos becomes part of the tour circuit that includes Müller Villa, Rothmayer Villa, and the Study and Documentation Center Norbertov, which was created thanks to the efforts of Mrs. Milada Müllerová, the wife of the financier of Müller Villa, Ing. František Müller. Her wish for a museum of Adolf Loos to be established here, expressed in a letter to Oskar Kokoschka in 1960, is gradually being fulfilled. With the long-term exhibition of our collection, we aim to add further value to her original intention.
