Semily - In Semily, they want to build a new kindergarten, so the town hall has announced a public anonymous architectural competition. The new modern building is intended to replace the outdated kindergarten Pod Vartou, which was built in the 1980s as a temporary solution. Architects can submit designs for the new kindergarten until December 7, Renata Coufalová from the Semily City Hall informed ČTK today. The current building of the Pod Vartou kindergarten was constructed as a provisional structure, but it is still operational with minimal modifications. "The existing buildings have not provided a suitable and inspiring environment for many years. In terms of layout, they do not offer possibilities for implementing modern teaching methods, and from a construction perspective, they are outdated in every way and very inefficient in operation," described the condition of the building architect Martin Hilpert. According to him, any further investment in refurbishment would only prolong the dire situation. This is not the first time the town hall has considered building a new kindergarten Pod Vartou; the project was already being prepared in 2009. At that time, the city wanted to finance the construction from so-called Norwegian funds, but that ultimately fell through. This time, the town hall intends to build the kindergarten using European subsidies. They plan to apply for them in the fall of next year. "The architectural solution for the interior and exterior must reflect current requirements for a healthy and happy environment for children and staff in a harmonious and enriching setting," noted Mayor Lena Mlejnková (Choice for Semily). The design of the kindergarten and its garden must account for the fact that two independently managed kindergartens will be located on the premises - the Pod Vartou Kindergarten and the Waldorf Kindergarten Semily, each with two classes. The design will include both the kindergarten building itself and the garden layout, including play elements and additional equipment. According to Mlejnková, the city leadership hopes to gain quality proposals for possible solutions for the construction of the kindergarten and its surroundings from the competition. The design competition should be concluded by the end of this year.
