Jury Evaluation
1st Prize - Competition Proposal No. 12 Authors: Michal Bernart, Prague; Jan Bradáč, Prague; Jana Jeřábková, Prague; Pedro Prazeres, Prague; Radek Lizna, Prague
The proposal maximally incorporates nature into the area, allowing the existing swimming pool to influence the design and connects it well with the new swimming pool. Static transport remains on the periphery, but on the western side, it is too close to the existing family houses. The overall concept emphasizes the natural character of the area. The swimming pool connects well with the swimming area. The location of hotel rooms and the training hall is logical. The location of the ice hockey arena with direct access to parking and public transport with access around the perimeter of the hall is also commendable. The artistic concept is appropriate to the site, utilizing natural elements (mounds). There is an optical contact with the historic swimming pool at the swimming pool. Simple forms correspond with the nature in the given area. The drawings indicate the feasibility of the constructions, but the report does not mention them, nor the materials on the surfaces of the objects; the increased costs for earthworks are adequate to the estimate (1,400,000,000 CZK). Maintenance of the buildings will be simple, and operational costs should match the simplicity of the solutions.
3rd Prize - Competition Proposal No. 28 Authors: Pavel Šťastný, Chomutov; Tomáš Rudolf, Jablonec nad Nisou; Pavlína Harazímová; Ing.arch. Jiří Špikla
The authors understood the "challenge of the place" - an impressive natural environment. With the proposal of "artificial landscape," they expand the possibilities and areas of the landscape framework of the sports complex and offer a friendly neighborhood to the residential development on the western side of the area. The operational links between the pool and the existing swimming area are immediate. The functional facilities at both main buildings are appropriate. The decision for the more costly underground parking is correct in this location. The central space above the parking lot is overdimensioned and could be empty outside of attractive events. The concept of the "green carpet" impressively enhances the location. It eliminates potential conflicts of large volumes of traditionally understood buildings with a cultivated framework. The relationship between the shape of the ice hockey arena's shell and the traditional geometric composition of its functional areas and spaces is problematic. The intention is feasible and could be executed in time and financial phases. The accompanying report states the enclosed space of the buildings to be 247,100 m³, a realistic price of 8,000 CZK/m³, and a total investment cost of 2,100,000,000 CZK. The solution would likely significantly reduce the need for energy (and costs), while higher expenses would be required for green maintenance.
Award - Competition Proposal No. 2 Author: ATIP a.s., Trutnov Collaboration: Ing.arch. Martin Vokatý, Trutnov; Ing. Vladimír Vokatý; Ing.arch. Vojtěch Kopal; MgA. Michal Kopecký; MgA. Pavel Ševců
A balanced urban concept with suitably placed buildings and parking areas, expertly handling the relationship of the buildings to the surrounding natural potential of the city parks. The concept provides opportunities for land reserves in the northern part of the area. The scheme for access to the swimming pool and winter stadium through the entrance canopy between the hostel and training hall is very well done. The layout solution of the swimming pool and ice hockey stadium is economical, clear, rationally developed, functional, and grasped in intent. Somewhat boxy solution of the buildings has reserves, but it is conceptually architecturally solid, balanced, and feasible in stages. The use of membrane structures in the compositional axis of entrance in the central space to the swimming pool and ice stadium is interesting. Investment costs ice hockey stadium 660,000,000 CZK 120,000 m³ swimming pool 322,000,000 CZK 52,000 m³ hostel 57,000,000 CZK 6,500 m³ training hall 29,000,000 CZK 9,600 m³ 1,085,000,000 CZK excluding VAT Operational costs slightly above standard.
Award - Competition Proposal No. 14 Authors: Ing.arch.Bc.A.Barbora Ponešová, PhD., Brno; Martin Daněk, Oldřišov; Martin Doležel, Boskovice; Klára Stachová, Křelov
The proposal addresses the task as a whole, which is bent below the terrain in the axis of the swimming area. A new entrance space into both halls emerges vertically to the building of the swimming area. The size of the building, considering the soft shape, is adequate. The anticipated underground parking under the entrance space is logical. There is a lack of connection between the swimming pool and the swimming area, and also the new entrance to the swimming area from the west is problematic. The hotel and training hall have no direct connection with the existing establishments. Clean, simple artistic solution is outstanding. It creates a new compositional axis perpendicular to the summer swimming area, which has an entrance but from the opposite side. The artistically and compositionally clean solution is in conflict with the operation of the buildings. Constructive and material alignments are realistically addressed. Investment costs 1,200,000,000 CZK. Operational costs will be proportional.
The period for making the competition proposals accessible to the participants for review begins with the publication of the results of the evaluation of the proposals and ends on the fifteenth day after the last delivery of the notification of the decision on the selection of the most suitable proposal (see Article 12.6 of the competition conditions). The organizer will notify all participants of the competition about the decision on the selection of the most suitable proposal by sending a protocol on the course of the competition into their own hands, within seven days from the jury's decision (see Article 12.7 of the competition conditions). The date of commencement of the public exhibition of all competition proposals is set no later than within three months from the announcement of the competition results (see Article 12.9 of the competition conditions).
