Biography
1955-62 - studied at Northern Polytechnic School of Architecture in London
1967 - studied at Regent Street Polytechnic Planning School in London
since 1960 - while still a student, worked as an assistant in the joint office of James Stirling and James Gowan
1963 - James Stirling founded his own office, where Michael Wilford became a partner in 1965
1971-92 - worked in the joint office of James Stirling Michael Wilford and Associates
1992 - after Stirling's death, Wilford led the office alone
1993 - Wilford together with L. Bain and R. Bevington transformed the office into Michael Wilford and Partners
1989 - received an honorary doctorate from Sheffield University
1993 - received an honorary doctorate from Newcastle University in Australia

He taught at universities in Great Britain, the USA, Canada, and Australia. In 1968 he was a visiting critic at Yale University School of Architecture and a jury member at Harvard University School of Architecture. He taught at the Architectural Association (1969-73), as a visiting professor at Rice University School of Architecture (1980-88) and University of Cincinnati School of Architecture (1990-92).
