Biography
Kristian Valter Gullichsen was born on September 29, 1932, in Helsinki. In 1960, he completed his studies at the Technical University of Helsinki. He gained practical experience working with Alvar Aalto and other Finnish architects. From 1961 to 1973, he operated his own practice in Helsinki, where one of his collaborators was Juha Pallasmaa, among others. In 1973, he partnered with Erkki Kairamo and Tim Vormalu to establish the firm Gullichsen Vormala Arkkitehdit Ky. Kristian Gullischen served as the chairman of the Alvar Aalto Foundation.

1965-70 - curator of the Finnish Architectural Museum
1982 - taught at the University of Houston, Texas
1993-95 - taught at the Berlage Institute in Amsterdam
