BiographyIn 1956, he completed his studies in architecture at the Technical University of Brno and became a designer. From 1965, he led a design studio at the Department of the Chief Architect of the City of Brno until the normalization period, when he had to leave the studio. After 1970, with the support of colleagues, he was able to gradually develop his work, albeit with restrictions on public publication. After the change of political circumstances, Jiří Gřegorčík was politically rehabilitated. In the years 1990-91, he served as the Chief Architect of the City of Brno.
In his field, he specialized in addressing urban planning issues of cities. He is the author of a number of urban plans for cities, projects, and realizations - among the most significant are the Jižní svahy housing estate in Zlín, Academic Square in Brno, and the modern complex of tower blocks on Šumavská Street in Brno (formerly the square of the Curie spouses).
