Biography
Henk De Smet studied architecture in 1979 at HSLI in Ghent and Brussels. Until 1982, he worked as a technical consultant for the non-profit organization PROTOS (Project for Technical Cooperation) on construction projects in Haiti. In 1989, he began collaborating with Paul Vermeulen. Since 1993, he has been at KU Leuven, where he has led the Sustainable Building Studio since 2003 and was appointed professor in 2006. He is currently a partner at the architectural office De Smet Vermeulen based in Ghent and a professor at the Catholic University of Leuven.
