Biography
Giovanni Muzio was an Italian neoclassical architect who was closely associated with the group of fascist artists Novecento Italiano. He studied architecture at the Polytechnic University of Milan, and after participating in World War I and a study trip across Europe, he opened a practice in Milan in 1920 with Giuseppe De Finetti, Gio Ponti, Emilio Lancia, and Mina Fiocchi, actively participating in Milanese cultural life. His residential block Ca' Brutta (Ugly House) from 1922 on Milan's Via Moscova is the most famous work of the artistic movement Novecento. Together with architect Gio Ponti and artist Mario Sironi, he designed the Popolo d'Italia pavilion for the Milan trade fair in 1928, the Italian pavilion for the Pressa exhibition in Cologne, and exhibition buildings for the Milan Triennale in 1930.
