Biography
Gilles Retsin is a Belgian architect, designer, and educator based in London. He studied architecture in Belgium, Chile, and the United Kingdom, where he graduated from the Architectural Association in London. He is currently a paid PhD candidate at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia.
He lectures at UCL's Bartlett School of Architecture in London, where he is also the head of the master's program. He is the co-director of the Automated Architecture Labs at BSA and the director of Automated Architecture (AUAR). He runs his own architecture and design office, Gilles Retsin Architecture, in London, working on international projects. His work lies at the intersection of automation, digital technologies, and architecture, including economic platforms, housing, and future living scenarios. His interdisciplinary research focuses on computational design, manufacturing and construction systems, automation, digital theory, artificial intelligence, and robotics, as well as housing and economic platforms.
