Biography
Franco Mancuso was born in Venice, where he lives and works. He is a professor of urbanism at the IUAV University in Venice, where he teaches a master's program in preservation, management, and enhancement of industrial heritage and at EMU (European Master on Urbanism). He is primarily engaged in research and design in the field of the restoration and redevelopment of public spaces. Among his works in Venice is the new Korean Pavilion at the Giardini della Biennale (in collaboration with architect Seok Chul Kim) and the redevelopment of the former San Lorenzo and Castello monastery and the former Istituto San Giovanni alla Giudecca, which were intended for nursing homes. In Palmanova, he participated in the redevelopment of the Piazza Grande square. His works have received significant national and international awards. He was the scientific leader of the EU project "Square of Europe, a square for Europe."
