Lectures for the Public: Art Yesterday and Today are dedicated this time to the significant jubilee of UMPRUM, the 140th anniversary of its founding. The 38th cycle will focus on "Personalities from the History of UMPRUM". The lecture series will conclude with a presentation by Prof. Lada Hubatová Vacková titled "Umprumačka and Loyal Russianist Marie Teinitzerová".

Marie Hoppe-Teinitzerová (1879-1960) was one of the first female students at UMPRUM, where she studied the painting and drawing school for ladies. Very soon, she began to focus on textile craftsmanship, workshop weaving, and became a devoted follower of the Arts and Crafts reform movement. She was a reader of the works of Christian socialist John Ruskin and sought to rigorously implement his ideas in the textile workshops she founded in Jindřichův Hradec.  The lecture will mainly focus on the early period of this textile artist, which was connected to her studies at the C.k. School of Applied Arts in Prague, the influence of the Arts and Crafts movement, and the Artěl association.
The 38th lecture cycle was prepared by Prof. Jindřich Vybíral.
