Galerie VI PER warmly invites you to a lecture as part of the exhibition Metabolic Rift and the symposium You Must Relax!.

Jeppe Kalnæs is a founding member of the transdisciplinary art and science collective TUSCA7. Its members, who have roots at the Technische Universität Berlin, combine methods from architecture, natural sciences, art, and critical journalism and strive to enhance a sense of solidarity and kinship among Earthlings of all kinds. Their work revolves around compost as a substance that challenges our notions of life and death, and a sustainable, community practice that could lead the way to a future with less emphasis on business growth and more on vegetable cultivation.

Jeppe will lecture on how TUSCA7 approaches themes such as waste, life, and the urban food chain, and will present his latest project, the establishment of a so-called Compost Dining Hall, a restaurant for microbes, at the Danish seven-day music festival Roskilde.

The event will take place at 19:00 in the community garden Kuchyňka, Květinářská, Prague 8. It will be preceded by a tour of the exhibition Metabolic Rift at Galerie VI PER starting from 17:00, after which we will move to the lecture. However, you are welcome to arrive directly for the lecture at KZ Kuchyňka. For interested parties, there is an option for communal sleeping in a yurt on the garden premises.

The lecture is part of the international symposium You Must Relax!, organized by Galerie VI PER, 4AM/Forum for Architecture and Media, Brno and galerie MAGAZIN, Vienna. Three days, three cities, and one theme experienced and discussed from three different perspectives. Work, recreation, regeneration, relaxation – a complex system with a complicated history intertwined with consumption, extraction, and more. In the garden, in the gallery, on the train, by the water, in the city — the event is designed as a journey through three cities — starting in Prague (July 7, 2023), continuing in Brno (July 8, 2023), and ending in Vienna (July 9, 2023). You can look forward to lectures, performances, discussions, listening sessions, fire gatherings, visits to exhibitions, communal sleeping, and much more. Come, share experiences, knowledge, relax, and enjoy the ride with us!
