Social media has undoubtedly become another reality in which we live our private and professional lives. It is sometimes very difficult to distinguish between physical and virtual reality. Let’s consider to what extent they influence each other. Something as physical as architecture is a good example of this. Moreover, this topic is not new; even Adolf Loos complained that Josef Hoffmann creates only two-dimensional buildings that look good in photographs. What influence do Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc. have on contemporary architectural practice? Does the desire for Instagrammable architecture affect the design process already?
The invitation to the discussion was accepted by Michaela Trnková (media literacy expert) and Ondřej Chybík (architect).
Where does architecture begin and end? This question was posed by the organization Architects Without Borders, leading to the project of discussion evenings Borders of Architecture, which aims to bring architects and professionals from other fields to the same table. The Borders of Architecture discussion evenings are open to both professionals and the general public. Audience participation in the discussion, whether through questions or opinions, is welcome.
