Vine Bar Two

Dvojka is a small wine bar in Prague's Letná.

We designed the interior of Dvojka for Richard Preisler, with whom we have collaborated on various commercial and non-commercial projects for several years. Richard was actually the very first client of our studio, and I believe this year marks exactly 10 years. Over this time, we have become friends, and we know that Richard has been dreaming of a similar space for quite a while. In our design, we tried to infuse his personality as we feel it. Several designs were created, but we kept saying it wasn’t quite "Richard," that it didn’t fully capture him. Then Honza pulled out a photo of a worn-out iPhone, and that was actually a kind of prototype for Dvojka. Contemporary and modern on one side, and a bit punk and vintage with a certain touch of artistic atmosphere on the other, because Richard, among other things, runs a gallery and comes from an artistic background.
Another point we set for ourselves was to create a space with a pleasant atmosphere where people can relax as much as possible before they finish their first doppio. This is reflected in the choice of furniture, lighting, and flooring.
So that was our internal assignment. We took a few old work tables and stools, a couple of old refrigerators for cooling wine, and painted everything including the walls white to create a unified space where everything occurs more in the realm of light and shadows. We poured concrete for the floor, which we splattered with white paint, so at first glance, it looks like you’ve stepped into someone’s studio. Or perhaps into a retro refrigerator shop. On the wall, there hangs a neon "2" in the color of red wine as a sign of what Dvojka is all about.
So one could say it’s all about utter simplicity, a space where everything comes together into one spirit.
