<Villa Charles>

The plot is located in Prague 6 Bubenč in the southern part of Charles de Gaulle Street. The open areas – setbacks from surrounding buildings are designed so that these open spaces are approximately evenly distributed, thus maintaining sufficient privacy for both the residents of existing buildings and future residents of the newly proposed building.
The house has been divided into two basic masses to soften the scale, compacted into an "L" shaped floor plan. The first mass is intended to evoke lightness, airiness, and transparency. The dynamics of the facade are enhanced by sliding wooden sunshades, which constantly transform the house. The second mass, on the other hand, is solid, firm, with smaller windows. It is clad in stone. The designed building is fundamentally four stories high, supplemented by a fifth set-back floor and one basement.
A crucial consideration is the privacy of the residents. The residential units are designed as separate, fully-fledged apartments with their own entrance from the central staircase.
With regard to the nature of the use and its residents, the communication spaces are calculated with higher spatial requirements and user-friendly parameters – e.g., gentler stairs, sufficient natural lighting, etc. On the ground floor, there are units with access to a terrace and medical offices with their facilities, waiting room, and amenities for visitors. The apartment on the last set-back floor is supplemented with terraces. The basement contains 26 parking spaces. Additionally, operational and technical facilities of the building are located here. The basement is connected by a ramp along the northern side of the building to the roadway on Charles de Gaulle Street.
