Superunit

Superjednotka in Katowice is the largest residential complex in Poland. The building on concrete piles measures a total of 187.5 meters. The author of the design was Mieczysław Król, who was inspired by the residential building Unité d'habitation in Marseille, France. For financial reasons, however, the Katowice Superjednotka lacks many of Le Corbusier's "living unit" innovations. In the fifteen-story panel building with 762 apartments, up to 3000 people can live, and there are 200 garages located in the basement. The corridors on the 2nd, 8th, and 14th floors connect the entire block and measure more than 150 meters, and the elevator operates only on every third floor.
