The forests of the city of Písek have announced a competition for a new administrative building on a plot of land that is at the edge of the forest, sloping down to the south, offering a beautiful view. Our Fořtovna is a box, bisected by a pathway, whose charm lies in the additional layers that have accumulated on it: linear winter gardens and sloped shading, reminiscent of a shed roof. The interface between the house and nature is wide enough for several steps, transitioning through several layers from the interior to the exterior. The structure is also multi-layered: the classic box construction is complemented by a wooden modular structure that supports the shading. Down at the end of the communication axis near the village is a nice building for drying (a house where seeds are separated from cones through drying), and we thought we would make it a sibling, a geometrically faithful copy in the form of a hollow edge, which will feature an exhibition about the forest. The drying house has yet to see its sibling. Perhaps next year.
