The Spanish exhibition titled Spagna [f.] - We, the Cities offered dozens of video portraits of women behind the region's quality architecture. The concept was based on the fact that the word city (the main theme of this year's biennale) is feminine in Spanish. The entire exhibition space was dominated by a light wooden floor and soft light flowing from 55 glass panels. Each panel featured a video presentation that visitors could change using a remote control. A total of over one hundred interviews were filmed with a hundred Spanish women working in various cultural environments: students, directors, professionals, government officials, architects, artists, curators, and gallery owners.
Dozens of projects were accompanied by photos, visualizations, and architectural models. One wall of the exhibition rooms was almost entirely covered with television screens, where visitors could see, thanks to fast internet connection, the actual location of the project.
The exhibition was attended by, among others, the following offices: RCR arquitectes, Josep Llinàs, Aceboxalonso, Imma Jansana, Selgascano, Izaskun Chinchilla, PO2 arquitectos, rg&r arquitectos, MVRDV + Blanca Lleó, Carmen Andrés + llanos Masiá, Entresitio Aranguren - Gallegos, Alberto Campo Baeza, rojo/fernández-shaw, MGM arquitectos, Nieto Sobejano arquitectos, Estudio Carme Pinós, BB+GG arquitectes, EMBT arquitectos and Santiago Calatrava.
