Multipurpose architectural and landscape object — The aim of the project is to simply demarcate and enhance the experience of walking from the road to the coast in this completely exceptional location. The main intention was to slow down this movement and to make the path itself a tool for a newly interpreted focus on experience: a thoughtful, restrained approach that fosters receptiveness (awareness). The primary concern regarding functionality was general accessibility. Instead of a dual solution with stairs and a ramp, we opted for a ramp as a common access route and created from it a unifying motif for the entire project. Due to the slope of the site, the ramp had to be very long, which also served to slow down movement. The winding flow of the path extends the journey, thereby opening new perspectives and offering visitors new experiences. The object, located in the far north of Norway, in an almost lunar landscape with its parched and inhospitable beauty, ideally should be completely self-sufficient – in terms of required energy and produced waste. Generally, the vision was to create a human element in the vast landscape, timeless just like the landscape itself, which at the same time draws attention to the relationship between the duration of the experience and the grandeur of the space.
